The Republican Party is undeniably the best it has been in my lifetime! For the first time ever a Rush Limbaugh style Republican leadership is in charge. From our fabulous President Donald J. Trump to the many wonderful members of his Administration such as Vice President J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, Stephen Miller etc. We are in a fantastic place!
Yet many Republicans are weak. Shockingly, I am not talking about Congress but about the voters themselves. For YEARS the issue of immigration has been the backbone of the Republican Party. There is nothing that can unravel the Trump coalition other than a betrayal on immigration. From his famous “Build the Wall” chant to the wildly popular push for mass deportations, the Trump movement has always had immigration at its core.
Yet many Republicans cave on the issue the second the going gets tough. Last year there was a whole coalition of Republicans who resisted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, while simultaneously complaining that the deportation numbers were not high enough. The Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) fully funded ICE and deportation efforts for the entirety of Trump’s Second Term. Not only did it fund those beautiful efforts it radically expanded the funding. It is now impossible for Democrats to defund ICE because of the Big Beautiful Bill. Many Republicans were EAGER to throw away the most important campaign promise of Trump’s second term because of how it “wasn’t Conservative” because the BBB would “grow the deficit”. While failing to realize the “growth” in the deficit was brought on by tax cuts. Cutting taxes isn’t Conservative?
Now let’s move on to Minnesota. The Democrats brilliantly made the whole Minnesota story about ICE enforcement to move us on from the Somali fraud scandal which, in a sane world, would rock the entire political cycle. Many Republican voters did exactly what the Democrats hoped and not only stopped talking about the fraud but paused in their dedication to mass deportations. They feared the political fallout. Listen to me Republicans. No one will EVER be punished for being too firm on immigration.
Immigration is and will always be a winning issue for Republicans because the public does not want illegals living in our country.
Thankfully, for the first time ever, Republican leaders are stronger than the voters. The Trump Administration did not cave on Minnesota and over 4,000 illegals were arrested. The message has been sent to other “sanctuary” cities that they will not win in a 1v1 against the Trump Administration. Every single rebellious “sanctuary” city and state now knows to not resist deportation efforts. If the weak Republicans had their way, these cities and states would be emboldened.
I beg my fellow Republicans to stop acting like Bush era Republicans. Stop being afraid of implementing our own policies. Florida is a prime example of how popular Conservative leadership is. Once Governor Ron DeSantis was elected and governed as an unapologetic Conservative, the state became wildly Conservative. Republicans don’t push voters away. Weak Republicans push voters away.
Our values are not broken. Mass deportations is popular and will not stop being popular. Do not get spooked by short term controversial moments. A momentary drop in our resolve can lead to long term leftist victories.
